Ice Skater's Law!

Skating + Stadium = Skatium???
I have no idea what Skokie Park District was thinking.
But it's the rink I go to every Tuesday!
Usually Miki takes me ice skating every Tuesday... BUT!!! Miki is off doing her cooking tournament.
Anyways as I said this morning, Maciek picked me up rather early and off we went to the "Skatium!" Maciek is the same as I remembered him, nothing's changed. Maciek goes 60mph on the expressway and blasts "Initial D" music in his car. We were listening to a remix of "Night of Fire" while Maciek was dangerously doing fake drifts on the expressway..... Maciek....... you haven't changed one bit... We arrived at the rink(Skatium) and we paid admission and I recommended Maciek get hockey skates because they would be easier to balance on. So he got a pair of hockey skates from the rental desk. While we were putting our skates on Mike and a few of his friends arrived, so I introduced Maciek to Mike and company.
When we stepped onto the ice... Maciek could hardly keep himself up! He said that ice felt strange to him, it was difficult to stand and adjust. He tried to use an inline skating motion to move forward, but with each step he took... it looked like he was going to lose balance and fall over. I was surprised... Maciek has much better balance than me... but here I see him struggling and flailing his arms around. He was starting to scare me... I thought he was going to fall over. Then Mike skates past us and I yell at Mike, asking for advice for Maciek, "Yo Mike! What advice you got for the noob?!" Mike responded, "ICE SKATER LAW #1: chin up and knees bent, pretend you're inline skating!" After that, Maciek didn't look like a first timer(he is one), he started to skate like a person who knew how to skate basically. After a while, Maciek started to do spins on his own... HEY I can't even do spins like that! It's his first time and he was treating it like inline skating. He did well... in the end, he ended up being able to skate faster than me. Maciek told me that skating feels good, it make you feel free and able to go fast without caring, but...... his feet feel like they're burning off. Since it's his first time, he's not used to the burning foot pain. He kept whining and screaming in pain, but he said it was a good pain, "it hurts so good".... ok... Maciek....
Anyways, the guys at the rink really wanted to show off, because it's what they like to do. Maciek told me, "Tess, you know, Mike is really conceited and egotistic and..." Don't finish that sentence Maciek, he's about to skate past us, yeah... I already knew that. It's true, Mike constantly loves to show off and get in your face, but that's what makes him fun. Although he's almost made me fall on so many occasions...
Yeah... they wanted me to film them... but I had no actual camera, Miki took it with her, so I'm stuck using my cellphone. So yeah, I edited this whole thing even though it's really short. Grr... time constraints on phone... It came out okay... Those are things I can't do on ice skates... I feel left out and hopeless of ever learning crossovers and advanced braking!!!!
Oh...
That reminds me! Apparently, there's this "Ice Skater's Law" that everyone at the rink follows. I learned about this today! One of them is called the "THREE-SECONDS law". Basically if you fall on the ice and don't get back up within "three seconds", it is by the legal rights of the skaters nearby you to spray you with an advanced brake. It's get up fast or get sprayed!!! WAHAHAHAHA!!!! Maciek got a snow wedgie from Mike... Maciek was kneeling down to make a snowball and Mike advance brakes and sprays snow at Maciek's butt, sadly Maciek's pants are loose so... the snow actually did go into his pants... hence snow wedgied by Mike....
Until next time, happy skating, bye!

on 2010-03-24 06:57 pm (UTC)It should work...
Ahaha... doing my research paper right now....
Oh I randomly found out that the artist my paper is on... she has an LJ, a real one, not an impostor's. That's interesting... My hero is on LJ?! I've always loved Audrey Kawasaki's paintings.

on 2010-03-25 12:58 am (UTC)And it does work!!! First of all, spectacular music choice!!!!! \^0^/ And is that your editing throughout??? It's so good!!!! But my goodness, they all look like pros. Like Mike's backwards skating, in particular, was so good! Sam's too! And oh my goodness, 48 seconds in, when the person goes sliding......ooowwaaaaaa!!! Still, they were going very fast! (That would be me too--especially trying to stop like that!) But goodness gracious, you guys are talented!!!
And that is really neat about your favprite artist, Kawasaki-san!!! &hearts You should contact her and tell her how much you love her work! (It would be so cool if you could interview her for your paper!!!) Wow, good luck! That's really exciting!
And thank you for sharing the video!!! (Sorry to put you through all that trouble! >.<)

on 2010-03-26 08:06 pm (UTC)AND THE EDITING WAS NOT BAD AT ALL!!! (You are too hard on yourself, Tessie! For quick work, that was very well done!!!) And that editing program sounds amazing!! You know what you could do? Pay for half of it with money you save up on your own, and then maybe ask your family to pay the other half for your birthday or school or something of that sort! I don't know if it could work, but that would be so nice for you to get that program! Ganbatte ne! Wow....only one day passed since we last chatted through comments here, and I realize already how much I missed you!!!!!!! Please accept this hug smiley!!!! c(^.^c)
Ah! Tessie, do you think you'll be online tonight??? I'm finally going to try make time to come on AIM!!!

on 2010-03-27 04:45 pm (UTC)And that's okay about AIM! I understand! Anyway, I was on a little bit before I finished the update, but once I was done with that latest one, combined with the whole day, I pretty much passed out! I barely got a journal entry out with it! And that's okay about work, of course!!! Don't get in trouble because of me!!! I'll try to be online again tonight! (And if I'm not, you should bug Alex and tell her to tell me to come online! XDDD)
Hahaha, and you were right! I think I conked out close to that time!!!

on 2010-03-27 05:26 pm (UTC)After that giant update, you deserve to have a nice long nap.
Since my sister finally got back from her cooking tournament in Minnesota, I don't have to help too much at the restaurant. Which means, I'll probably be on the computer and doing my Shinjiro sketch all day. Like yesterday, I'll probably get a lot of comments from the local artists.
I love that I'm on spring break now, I can relax and draw all I want, YAY!

on 2010-03-28 05:14 am (UTC)I'm so happy you get a break, though! And drawing Shinjiro...nice choice! ;) I agree that he had some interesting features! Best of luck to you, though I think you will do very well! I remember your Hidaka artwork! (Which, by the way, do you want me to share on attackallaround??? I still want to do that Member Special! ^_^ Maybe we can do that soon! :D) Please enjoy your break! &hearts

on 2010-03-25 02:07 am (UTC)And Sam looks TOTALLY cool on the shuttle run! The way he runs and also the way he stops...I swear I would trip and roll over a couple of times. XD
Awesome video! (I like your edits, especially for the wipeout! XD)

on 2010-03-25 02:15 am (UTC)I believe Sam said he was the fastest person at the rink. Mhmm... I would probably kill myself trying to advance brake like that.
I thought it was cheesy, but Mike said it was good publicity for him. Whatever...
